Very proud of these young women who managed the huge pressure that must have been on them
Want to add something. Women are excelling in the sport of curling, which demonstrates that gender stereotypes have no place in the game. Curling is a sport that emphasizes strategy, technique, and precision as the most important factors, and gender is not a relevant factor. The success of women in curling and the sport's inclusivity highlights the importance of equal opportunities and the potential of individuals, regardless of gender, in all fields. Due to the fact that at school the girls did not find a place for themselves in the football team, I chose this topic for an essay in sociology, inspired by examples https://samploon.com/free-essays/gender-stereotypes/, I was lucky that I found this site and was inspired by the robots that were there. The lack of gender stereotypes in curling is a positive development for society and serves as a model for other sports and fields where more work is needed to break down gender barriers and encourage equal participation. |

Most of you know that team Stevens/Deschenes got the gold. In case you didn't know, their Skip had aged out of Juniors so they had to do this without their leader who came as a coaching 5th or something. Scotland and Korea both ended up in the BWorlds as well - so it was a very tough field and there was a lot at stake. Huge congratulations to this group and best of curling in the 2023 world juniors - just around the corner - end of February - in Fuessen Germany. |

They are in Finland <<first draw 09:00 15th Finland time 7hrs earlier here (2am EST tonight *if they are in EETime zone)>> and the Canadian Junior Women need to qualify for the world this time, because of a low ranking last year. They start tomorrow with a game against Italy. Live scores are here: https://worldcurling.org/events/wjb...geType=schedule
in case CZ doesn't get them up - but they will.
Our team is from Nova Scotia:
Emily DESCHENES (Skip), Lauren FERGUSON (Vice-Skip), Alison UMLAH and Catherine FITZGERALD. I imagine if they qualify, the same team will represent us at the Women's World Juniors.
It is unusual for us to "playing in to the Words", but such is the future of our growing sport. Let's give them lotsa love in the socials. |
