Scotties jewelry
I want to put a video together showcasing the Scotties jewelry tradition and what it means to the curlers. I need your help in finding materials for this (articles, photos, videos, audios).
Here's what I have so far:
Jill Brothers talks to husband Paul about how the jewelry "grows"
https://www.facebook.com/curlingcan...706426366036046
Sarah Wark gets teary-eyed talking about her first Scotties
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6c2M5fryGVw&t=4m20s
Amy Nixon has a complete set of rings
https://twitter.com/wee_nixon/status/836754640456708097
Lisa Eyamie has pictures comparing empty vs full necklace
https://twitter.com/eyamiel/status/832784292048629760
Alison Kreviazuk has a close-up of the diamond ring (2014)
https://twitter.com/ali_krev/status/439858599767330817
When Katherine Henderson announced equal purse between Scotties & Brier, Cathy Gauthier wants to know if the jewelry stays, before even asking what the new purse will be
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0NHCRua1hVg
Stock photo shows close-up of JJ's diamond ring (2011). It looks larger than Kreviazuk's.
https://stock.adobe.com/ee/editoria...etown/151710352
The materials I'm missing are:
* Confirmation that the diamond rings grow in size (i.e. you don't get 2 diamond rings for winning 2 Scotties, but instead you get the diamond enlarged), and if true, photo comparison
* Photos/videos of the bracelet
* Self-shot iPhone videos/selfies at the opening ceremony/banquet
Any other materials, even if they cover the same ground, is welcomed. I'd love it if the video is just a montage of curler after curler crying about receiving their first necklace.
Thanks in advance.

I found this old 2016 article from archive:
https://web.archive.org/web/2018011...ment-of-hearts/
quote:
The 12 teams that compete in the main round robin each receive a gold chain and pendant in the shape of the four hearts while the provincial/territorial runners-up receive keeper trophies. In addition, the Scotties Tournament of Hearts teams are presented with a red heart crest to be worn on their team jackets.
All repeat Provincial/Territorial champions have a diamond added to their gold pendants. Since Kruger Products assumed sponsorship of the Canadian Women’s Curling Championship, Nova Scotia’s Colleen Jones has distinguished herself as the “winningest curler” with four diamonds now adorning the pendant she won in 1982, a pair of diamond earrings to celebrate her sixth Scotties Tournament of Hearts win and a gold bracelet with six diamonds to commemorate her seventh, eighth, ninth, tenth and eleventh Scotties Tournament of Hearts provincial championship titles.
While Colleen Jones is the only skip to have won four straight Canadian titles, Pezer and Jennifer Jones are not far behind with three apiece.
The Scotties Tournament of Hearts trophy has been specially designed in silver with four heart-shaped columns of varying heights rising from a teak base. Each member of the winning team receives smaller replicas of the trophy in addition to gold rings, in the four-heart design, set with a .25-carat diamond. The runners-up receive gold rings with rubies and the third place team receives gold rings set with emeralds.
So apparently there are earrings as well!
Still no confirmation that the stones on the rings get upsized with repeated Top 3 finishes.
//update: the earrings may be no more. Also, this made it sound like the necklace is now for making it to Championship Round, not just for winning the province/territory.
https://stoh.ca/en/champions.php
quote: It takes immense effort, teamwork and perseverance to earn a spot in the championship round of a Scotties Tournament of Hearts.
We honour that milestone by awarding each first-time qualifier with a gold necklace and pendant shaped like four hearts which represent the Scotties signature logo. The next four times a curler gets to the nationals, we add a diamond to the pendant. Six-time provincial champions are also given a tennis bracelet that we continue to fill with diamonds in tribute to this outstanding achievement.

Team Galusha posted an update post-Scotties of Margot Flemming receiving her necklace.
https://twitter.com/TeamGalusha/sta...871273940385802
I noticed that the rookies weren't wearing a necklace this year, and the returners didn't have the diamond upgrade. It looks like maybe it's just delayed due to pandemic, usual upgrades apply even if you were appointed to represent the province.
(Galusha did win her province in 2021, so we would have to hear from people like Team BC to know for sure).

just to confuse you, team canada does not get an upgrade to their necklace or ring. ...and winners have the option of moving a stone from one piece of jewellery to another (i.e. ring to necklace). I'm not sure what happens with fifth players anymore - I don't think they get jewellery, although at one point they did.
....and....a long time ago, back in the dinosaur age, competitors also received a special Scott pin the the form of a tiny broom with a diamond chip in the middle, that could be pinned to a jacket.

In Warren Hansen's new book, "Sticks 'n' Stones: The Battle for Curling to be an Olympic Sport", Robin Wilson tells the story of how she and Bob Stewart (president of Scott paper company at the time) came up with the jewelry idea, and how Colleen Jones were giving them headaches with her repeated wins.

No, and I have no desire to. I'm a shy person, and ultimately, I'm just a nobody who accidentally discovered curling and became a fan. I don't actually curl.
For what it's worth, this article published on CBC.ca corroborates most of what Warren Hansen's book says.

"The whole concept of jewelry, that's another thing we came up with when we were drinking red wine," Wilson said.

You should reach out via the internet to Wilson, I bet you’d get a happy response. Or even try someone like Officer (who is around and even pops up on YouTube chat) or, heck, Colleen Jones via Twitter.
