"Elite" vs "Club" curler
Just for fun, with provincial playdowns underway, when does someone move from "club" to "elite" curler status.
Seeing as this debate has sort of occurred on other threads, what makes you an "elite" curler. I'm not talking about the big boys and girls, but "tier two".
Is it winning any provincial banner, ranking at a certain level an the WCT standindgs, playing in a provincial championship?
I'm curious as to different people's standards.

I think continually competing at the provincial level can make you "elite" from a regional point of view. I would certainly add a few more categories b/t club and elite like "competitive", "regional", etc, etc.

You are an "elite" curler when you start getting pissed off after losing to teams you feel are beneath you.

No, that's elitist.

IMHO, to be a "elite" curler is no matter of ranking, it's just the way you work hard for your goals and the attidude to your sport.

I agree. You're only elite becuase you think you're betterthan every one else for no real reason. A true 'competitive' curler is one who works hard at the game, has success but doesn't stick their nose in the air, stays true to the spirit of the game and doesn't have a hissy when a supposedly 'lesser' team beats them.
And believe me, there are more than a few players out there who think and act just the way as those elitist players...

You're sweeping the last rock of an end for an extra point. As the rock comes into the four foot, you kick the rock off while it's still moving. Technically, you've burned the rock. If no one challenges you on this, then you're truly an elite curler.

You are a club curler if your team is afraid to enter competitive spiels. You are a competitive curler if your team enters competitive spiels. You are an elite curler when your team starts winning competitive spiels.

You are an elite curler if you figure you're above the rules of curling and sweep opponents rocks before they reach the T-line in the house.

Nice. Couldn't have said it better.
In Ontario I always thought you were an "A" "B" or "C" level team.
A = about 10 teams tops
B = a big mess. These teams can qualify one weekend then go 0-3 the next
C = "club" team.

I've seen "elite" teams do option B.
