Manitoba Team Line-up Changes - 2013/14 - Men & Women
Jim Bender has tweeted (http://twitter.com/bendersun) about a new women's team:
Breanne Meakin has returned to skipping - with Meilleur, Howard and Karwacki. Should be great, young team.

Another possible option
Ashley Howard was skip of the NB team at Canada Games in 2007 and at the 2009 Canadian Junior as another option for that team, if they juggle it around at some point.

Package Retires
Heard Terry MacNamee has hung up his mens shoes and is slipping on his senior loafers. That frees up his team for a new skip. Perhaps they all go their own ways? Could shake up the south west and we could see some new teams forming in the near future.
Speculations...Teams hires Brendan Taylor to skip...Steve skips and they pick up a third...all free agents, Saban is a solid lead, Tito is a young up & comer, Steve has a ton of winning experience.
Don't see many other changes to teams this year. It will be interesting after the trials what happens. If Stoughton & Mead hang em up, if Nichols sticks around, if Laing moves west...if there are any changes to McEwens or Fowlers teams...2014 will be the year of great change....Its the Manitoba Way...lol

I don't know what his team will be, but Randy Nufeld's surgically repaired knee is coming around and he has the entire summer to get it stronger. He looks to be very competitive next year.
I hope so. I find him very easy to cheer for.

copied and pasted from the Brandon Sun:
Winnipeg’s Richard Daneault is no longer a member of Rob Fowler’s curling team.
The Brandon-based skip confirmed that the team — which also includes Winnipeg’s Derek Samagalski at lead and Brandon’s Allan Lyburn at third — let Daneault go on Friday.
“The team felt we needed a change,” Fowler said by text message. “We offered Richard a spot on the team playing lead but he declined so we parted ways.”
The foursome had been together for three seasons, won a Manitoba men’s curling championship in 2012 and finished third at the Brier in Saskatoon.
They also earned enough points to qualify for the Roar to the Road of the Rings Olympic pre-qualifier from Nov. 5-10 in Kitchener, Ont.
Fowler said they will keep their spot in the 12-team event since three members of the team are staying together. Two of those teams will advance to the Olympic qualifier in Winnipeg in December.
The Fowler team is still looking for a new player.

That is very unfortunate for Rich as he has worked hard also for that pre-trial spot. It is different if you make your own choice to leave the team. He is not the reason that Fowler was not winning this year. Can't see myself cheering for Rob to get to the Roar of the Rings. Hope Rich finds himself a new team that appreciates him.

Will there be an offical FA thread this year or is this it?
If so I might as well throw my name out there. Lookin for a new team (again). Prefer front end but will play any position. Flexiable schedule and can curl in just about everything (Curled all but 2 weekends this year between September and January). Also have sponsorship $$$
Can be contacted via email or PM.

2013 Opportunities
What's going on next year folks?
Some good young players out there that only need an experienced back end to create some havoc in the province.
One set making some news this year was the front end of Nick Curtis, Ian McMillan, Riley Smith and Steen Sigurdson.
Qualifying in every MCT event entered and showing very well at the provs this could be a team and and set of players worth keeping an eye on. With an average age of 23 these guys are poised for a great things in the future.
Any comments?

Connor Njegovan has joined W. Lyburn's team and James Kirkness has departed (from Connor's tweets).
Any other team changes out there?

Heard of view new line ups.
Rich Daneault is skipping. Galbraith is third, Braden Zawada second and Mike Neufeld at lead. Interesting crew. They should be playing in alot spiels, I imagine they will have fun with the funds Fowler threw away.
Dunstone throwing the brick, Elias Skipping. Gesell and Melnichuk at front end. Formidable team, but how much will they play?
Connor bails on the Bohn's, so who do/did they pick up?
What is the rest of Elias', Madam's & Mcnamee's teams doing?

We are currently looking for a dedicated player for the third position. We are looking at league play once a week as well as zones, MCA, and the occasional cash spiel.
If you are interested, please email me at bradleyh@mts.net
