I think the pacific championships are on at the same time and Europeans next week. Can't be in 2 places at once for Pacific-Asia, and too much travel for Euros. That's their Brier and Scotties equivalent.

I was there in the arena for the first draw tonight. The place was packed. Standing room only.

Hasselborg declined the invite; likely due to the Euros.

Er...that Thunder Bay is turning out in droves to watch a Grand Slam event in person. Some other Slam locations in recent years can’t say the same.

Well...congrats to you all! I still don't see how your comments address the thrust and point of my original post!

Whaaaaat?
oooooh thrust.
As stated, many teams are playing either DURING or the week after the same time span as the "spiel". Many, many, in fact MOST teams and countries feel their WORLD qualifiers are MUCH bigger than a cash spiel in the middle of nowhere!!! Or middle of northern nowhere. Get a grip. Would you rather compete in the "Europeans" with your country's chances on the line for the worlds and upcoming Olympics, or play in a cashspiel in Canada?
Exactly.....

It wasn’t meant to address your post. I wanted to post something about the GSOC Tour Challenge, and the subject line of this thread is “GSOC Tour Challenge,” thus I posted here. It’s how internet message boards tend to work, in my 25 years of experience with them.

Isabella Wrana, " The Real Deal"
Hopefully those who decide which teams are to be televised will give us a glimpse into the future by highlighting Wrana somewhere in this draw prior to the QF's.
This young lady appears to be an exceptional talent, the best 21 year old skip to come along in years.

All of the Tier I seating here is on one side of the arena, adjacent to Sheet E. The Wrana vs Jones match today was all the way over on Sheet A which makes it hard to see much if what’s going on. I can’t therefore tell you how Wrana dropped a 4 on Jones in the first end... I just know I looked over at their scoreboard at one point and when “whaaa?”
Jones of course stormed back to tie eventually at 6-6, but then Wrana’s team calmly kept at it and got the winning point in the 8th end.

Krista McCarville one of the best pure shooters. Can you Imagine how great she could be if she was a full time curler instead of a full time teacher? So many great curlers strapped by jobs and vacation time vs sponsorship.

if dunstone, paterson and koe lose tonight there will be 7 trams in the playoffs and 7 still alive. only calvert would be eliminated. would they really play 3 rounds of tiebreakers to determine that 8th spot?

misty1,
They just said on the broadcast that if they do get a big tie like that that they’d look at all the teams’ draws to the button to determine hammer throughout the event so far, and the top 4 of those would be matched up in the 8am tiebreaker slot tomorrow morning. Those not in the top 4 would be out.

Got to love the commentator saying Kevin might be grumpy after losing his last two games . . . He was his usual calm self, in spite of.

Koe always looks constipated. As for Fleury, doing very well. Hey Einarson, your dumped team looking great. Greener pastures? We'll see in the end.

If there are any other US fans or curlers heading back into Minnesota from the Tour Challenge like I was this morning, SLOW DOWN on Highway 61. I spun out on black ice on the highway this morning at about 9 am an hour south of the border, went into a ditch and totaled my car. Fortunately there was no other traffic around when I did it, and I was not injured.
I left today to try to avoid exactly this sort of thing in tomorrow’s more snowy weather forecast.

LOL. Good for them. They have a ways to go to catch up. They have had A good weekend. The weak link on Einerson’s former team was the first 6 rocks. The same can be said about Fleury’s team.
