Agree could have scheduled it an hour later, but they’ve always done it at this time. Canada shook 30 minutes early though. Was hoping to hear Gushue’s take on the Martin Hansen fiasco but I’m guessing producers were told don’t ask don’t tell. All in all good show and great insight from Jacobs I thought.

In what is maybe the most significant announcement yet: Walker/Myers announce they will not be participating in four team curling and focusing exclusively on mixed doubles for the next 4 years.
https://twitter.com/walkermuyres/st...647112649523204
It makes a lot of sense for Walker, who doesn't have to deal with finding a team after a year or two away. Maybe more surprising for Myers.

The latest Inside Curling Podcast episode basically scoffed off the residency/team change issue, what a shock.

Its also important to know that Hansen did not retract his statement about Gushue lobbying the CCA. He actually had the gall to twist it and state Gushue was still lobbying for a rule change but not for himself but for 'all the other teams'
Outright lying, deception, false information, blocking or banning anyone from the Facebook podcast group who challenges their lies...
It seems there is no level to which these two will stoop to push forward an agenda that seems focused on destroying the Brier and STOH in order to replace them with the Slams.

Walker/Muyres - makes enough sense for now and I do agree Canada needs more elite curlers to be more focused on MD if Canada is to improve on the world stage. I’d be surprised if both of them weren’t back in the 4 person game within a year or two. Easy to say you’re focusing on mixed doubles right now, but reality will hit when realizing that 90% of the curling calendar is based on the 4 person game.
Gushue - if anyone thinks that Gushue hasn’t had conversation with CC about residency, you’re fooling yourself. Quibble whether “lobbying” is the proper description, but he’s spoken with CC about residency.

Where’s the proof Gushue was in contact with CC. Right. None. Hearsay based on proven liars Martin and Hansen. At best they are embellishers. At worst they’re liars trying to promote their podcast. Jealousy capital J. Gushue has surpassed Martin as greatest Canadian curler! Hurts but truth is truth. Never saw gushue throw a rock away vs a world class competitor. And LOSE. Been there saw that with Martin. Just shrink back into the curling cave you call once was. Oh don’t forget the straw broom incident. Yeah. That’s classy.

Martin especially has been pushing the slams, the "best on best" for years now over the Brier. The fact is the slams won't replace in popularity the Brier/Scotties for a long time if ever. If Koe is playing Gushue for a million bucks in a slam/cashspiel in primetime Sunday I may or may not watch but if PEI is playing BC in a STOH round robin game at 10am on Tuesday I probably am. And I ain't alone, look at the empty seats in tiny clubs/arenas for the slams vs real crowds at the Brier/Scotties.

Of all the criticisms of Martin ever made this is the stupidest. He made a decision but it didn't lose him the game, missing on his next did. And he had a VERY makeable shot to win the game—proving him right on the prior sot.
Plus if one bad strategy call is all it takes to be persona non grata then Gushue is out, too, for the 7th end of the 2007 Brier.

I was there in Moncton. Every team mate and every person in the crowd was wtf. Even Mrs Murdoch 4 rows behind me was chanting we’ll be comin’ down the rrroad. Started with Kennedy questioning not peeling the guards. Then Johnny mo questioning not peeling the front. All the while Hebert cursing wtf is he thinking. Hear it plain as day. Then the literal 10 minute time out. First the team yak then 2 time outs. Then all 3 questioning the throw through. Worst 6 /7 consecutive shot calls of all time. Not one but 7. Much worse than any shot here or there over the years.
Don’t get me started with his view of slams above all and brier and Scottie’s should be dissolved. His thoughts much different as curling Canada funded him to be in the briers. Even though he boycotted the brier for a couple years, he still lapped up the brier gravy after the fact. Hypocrite with a capital H.
PS compare his record with gushue. Incomparable. And gushue isn’t finished yet.
And you never hear gushue tell you look how great I am/was either in person or on a podcast. Aw shucks vs yes I am.
Sorry. Here endeth today’s rant. Only one game on tv today.

It's actually quite comparable, but if anything, Martin's record is still superior. The only thing Gushue has over Martin (since juniors) is Brier appearances and game wins, but with respect, he plays out of Newfoundland. I think it's quite likely Gushue's record does surpass Martin's at some point, but it's silly to pretend it has already.
And I also never hear Martin talk about how great he was. I'm sure he thinks it, as Gushue does, but I've never heard either of them really bragging.

Gushue did say in that curling show that they were in contact with Curling Canada because of the Brier Wild Card spot that they received since they technically didn't play in their provincials because they were played during Olympics. I'm guessing that's Hansen heard that Gushue was lobbying with Curling Canada, but it was to play at this Brier.

Tracy Fleury is the new member of Team Homan.
Team Homan
Starting the 2022/23 season we are so incredibly excited to have Tracy Fleury join the team! Emma and Sarah will be playing the front end while Rachel and Tracy will be playing the back end together. We wanted you to hear the news from us first, but how exactly will the rest of the team lineup look next season? You’ll just have to wait to find out!

Very surprised best mate/3rd all time ever now playing 2nd? Curious to see how it all unfolds. Fleury throw 3rd and Miskew still hold broom for Homan? I guess not if Emma playing front end. We’ll see how it all unfolds. Hmmm.

Can't put Miskew as the best third all time. She might be near the top but I would put a few ahaed of her myself. Also maybe she won't mind getting away from Rachel in the house..

"Fleury will join the Ottawa-based rink as its import player, with the rest of the squad having been born in Ontario."
Ah, as far as I know, Tracy was born in Ontario...Maybe if CC considers NO as imports for ON, but I don't think that is the case.

Northern Ontario is considered a different association from Ontario, as Ontario is divided into two separate associations. Tracey Fleury would most definitely be considered the import.

Still trying to wrap my head around this one. The only thing that makes sense is Homan sweeps and Fleury calls the game with her input. Either could throw last. It’s a very weird move after the Lisa Weagle situation. Homan can definitely up her sweeping game but the point of Weagle going was to upgrade sweeping and now they’re downgrading. I guess the failure of that gambit made them realize their issue had nothing to do with sweeping.
On one hand I see this as them finding the best available player and making a bold move. A real shakeup of Homan and Miskew’s entire career. But is Liz Fyfe not a more sensible pick? Is this a radical change they need or more over engineering? My view is their issue for the past few years is everything is too complicated: strategy, releases, sweeping. Homan is a power hitting trying to play ground ball lately and it’s resulted in struggles. But they’ve also nearly won three Scotties. Simplicity (and no mat leave) strikes me as the obvious solution. But we will see, the talent is there.
On the other hand I can see this as a 2 year experiment and they part ways when Courtney comes back. It gives Fleury time to find a new team and Homan to try something radical.

A completely unnecessary and inappropriate remark IMO. Miskew and Homan have stayed together for over twenty years and if she had wanted to move on she could have done so at any time.

Wow! Team Homan is now a super team. Next season we should see a scorched-earth scenario as they obliterate all opponents.

I think she was born in Sudbury.
I found this from the CCA site:
BIRTHRIGHT STATUS
"Athletes who have moved away from their province / territory of birth are now eligible to represent that province / territory as a bona fide resident." This means any teams can consist of one free agent and the remaining players may be bona fide residents or have birthright status. All four players can have birthright status."

I probably could have worded my view better as I am totally aware of the connection between Homan and Miskew over the years. However they do seem to realize it is a good time to try something different on their team and that I agree with.

After Homan's disastrous Olympics in 2018, not sure that Fleury is the solution. How do an alpha female and an omega/beta female gel??

Yep so if she plays on a team from Ontario, Tracey Fleury would be an import.
