So, no word on Mr. McEwen yet and on Monday at rec bridge in this sleepy Manitoba town someone said, Oh! McEwen is moving to Ontario!. Total gossip and unsubstantiated, so I'd never repeat it here, in this venerable forum, (though town is close to Brandon - McEwan's home town) but we thought, well Dawn is from Ontario. It could be true. Nobody said where that rumour came from. Today? The Gunner Carruthers union is announced and I think, (after two stiff Drambue on ice) that hmm... There is that Ottawa connection. And Horgan. And Hodgson in N.Ont. It is totally drunk texting here... but where do predictions come from anyway. I have not heard that there is retirement on that threshold. Speculation. Oh Yeah. Fry was also mentioned in that rumour, and we speculated it wouldn't be a totally obnoxious fit.

What?? And I thought I rambled at times. Again, what? TF.
Next question, is Carruthers skip or another awkward team dynamic a couple years as to who calls the game, who throws last rock, and what is the team called?

I could see McEwen, The Horgans and Colin playing out of Northern Ontario. Mike could live in Manitoba and play for that team.

Another interesting team from Saskatchewan.
Nancy Martin - Skip
Steph Schmidt - Third
Jenna Armstrong - Second
Krysten Karwacki - Lead
Steph and Jenna being pieces from Team Carey, and Krysten from Manitoba having recently played for Darcy Robertson (and 5th for Team Einarsson).

Not sure if its been mentioned already but the Swiss Team de Cruz has also split up - three of the team had been playing together since juniors more than a decade ago.
No indication on their future individual plans but probably explains why they aren't playing the remaining slams despite their ranking being high enough.
Sven Michel will be playing in the mixed doubles worlds though with Alina Paetz the week after next in Geneva.

Interesting that Colin Hodgson was seen with the Horgan brothers and Darren Moulding at the Blue Jays game. Since 3 of the 4 didn't play in Toronto. Safe to assume that they'll form a team. To be fair, Ted Wyman reported that team 1 month ago.

That Bottcher team will do very, very well.
On paper that does look like a very strong team and, yeah, it should do well, however I can see personality clashes there. Teams that look strong don't always pan out for that reason

3 vets. 2 on their last quad, 3 who have chosen this and have tasted that victory state, and them, with a focused skip who throws pretty well. There is lots of motivation and I think the vets will be able to moderate turmoil and let the skip have the limelight. I predict they will contend.

I would recommend watching Ben’s interview today https://youtu.be/jS4tT43oBGE .
People are too worried about analyzing everyone’s personality and guessing whether they will get along. You don’t need to have the same personality as someone to be a great team together.

Thanks for sharing. I had very similar thoughts as to what Ben expressed re: new team. I think more people should realize that the top teams are focused on winning and less about being besties.

They'll likely be a strong team much like Team Einerson was despite some early skepticism it would work.
