mark nothing good can come out of you letting your feelings been know and defending and justifying rumours or fighting with posters on here or letting us know how you feel about other curlers
I know, I'll avoid it in the future. Lesson learned.

Mead's new team is formidable. Howard's new team seems more hobbyist than anything else. May as well bring 60 yr old Russ on board again!
Mead, Taylor and Savvy form a tremendous front 3.
Don't know if 40+ yr old Robby Fowler has enough shots but he'll sure have his life simplified having Mead and a great front end!
McEwen, Carruthers and Calvert just found a team to round out the foursome!
Well curling in Manitoba gets more interesting as the days go on.
I think I like the possibilities.
Savill's family moving too?

Before we all start pontificating let's see the official announcement - it's Saturday morning and there's nothing yet.

This is no joke, the OCA has dropped zone play downs for the Scotties next year. All team play in Regions instead.

So, what are the facts, and what is the fiction? If Glenn has a new team, what is the team? Is that true about Mead and Savill? I assume that is a joke about Ferbey.
Also, CB, what are the facts about the merging of the zones into big regions? That one seems to make sense.

Dropping numbers and clubs reluctant to give up ice for 3 team zone play downs lead to regional entries. But to me, the OCA should be very concerned with dropping participation.

With only 34 teams registered in Ontario last year, zones do not make sense from a time and economic standpoint. The 16 zones used to feed 4 regions and each region can now have 8 teams more or less for 2 spots into provincials. For all parties involved, this was a really simple fix to the bigger issue of eroding registration.

The reason for the decline in the number of ladies teams is simple. You will always have the 34 or so teams who feel they have a legitimate chance of winning. You won't have the extra 15 club teams and 15 senior ladies teams who refuse to pay the $260. per team just for practice.

The Oca should be more concerned with grass roots curling not expending time and money on the elite. Numbers are never going to return to historic highs. Competitive curling left the average club team behind years ago.

Agree with what you say about about the grassroots, but would have to ask why are the entries not there for The Dominion and The Best Western/Fairfield events.
The only reason I can give for the lack of curlers in The Dominion is the timing, too early for some clubs who are not even thinking about curling in an event at the end of October.

I agree. Do we have confirmation of what Mead/Savill are doing next year, as well as Glen Howard?

Don Landry has confirmed it. Howard/Middaugh/Hart/Howard.
