You're quoting the wrong person, I didnt find it suspicious...

He's going from a team that he skipped to a national championship for three straight years, to a team that didn't even qualify for Nationals this year. But at least he'll be back near his family again.

Emerson Klimpke is the lead.
John Cullen thinks that McEwen is playing out of Ontario next year, so I doubt it's his new team.

Hmm..
So McEwen might be in Ontario. Carruthers, Lott , gunnlaugson and dunstone are out. Gauthier is off to BC.
Has Calvert announced his plans?.
Possible that Kyle Doering is returning to skipping?.
If McEwen is in Ontario it makes me think that the idea of him and Epping teaming up is possible . Epping hasn't announced anything

I doubt that Epping is playing with McEwen since they said that they're still playing with Camm and the rumoured names was that McEwen was playing with Fry. We'll see though.

I’m assuming Geoff will “work” at Bally Haly again then.

I’m concerned about other teams following suit. “Live” in a province, whilst their wife, son, and soon to be newborn “live” elsewhere. Either get rid of the true residency rules, or enforce them. Curling Canada no back bone. Call it or cut it. Get a mitt and get in the game.
Prefer enforce.

I don't think that other teams will follow suit because there are enough good curlers in the provinces where the elite teams are. I think the only way I could see something happen is if Jacobs comes back.
I don't see teams from smaller provinces doing that because you need to be a successful team to have someone you can convince to come live there. Maybe if there's an up and coming team coming to play in a smaller province. However I don't see it happening. I really think that Gushue is the team that can afford doing that.
Also does it matter where his wife is? If my partner moves to another province to play on a curling team, why should I have to follow them? I'm not in the Walker family. I'm pretty sure Geoff and Laura made their decision about it and they are living with it.
Rules are there, even if you call it as you say. There are rules written and you don't think that Brad hasn't read those rules before? He's done this on multiple occasions with at least 4 different curlers that I can remember. He knows the rules. I'm sure that Gushue and Walker probably figured out a schedule of when he's staying on the rock and when he's staying in Alberta with his family. You just need to spend more days in Newfoundland and Labrador than Alberta when not playing. And I'm sure that they know that if they lie about it, they would be suspended for 1 year. Gushue is serious about his curling team enough to make it work.

New Team Tirinzoni announced; they welcome Briar Hurlimann and Carole Howald (long term alternate for many World Champion skips) to the rink.

Curling Canada let this cat out of the bag years ago including dealing with John Morris. They will not start enforcing rules now.

I’m still curious about McEwen and Fry. Wonder why that hasn’t leaked.
The link does not work for me. Can you provide the names if there is some new team just formed in Manitoba??
