What about Mary Ann Arseneault for Carey? An older but wiser third who is cool & calm might just be what Carey needs.

Mary Ann was a good curler in her day but she is unfortunately on the wrong side of the pinnacle and really who wants to work with the person who really controls Team Carey and that is daddy Dan.

No choice required. With new homan residency rule she could still play out of Ontario as she has since the rule change. Only 1 import is Courtney
However if she's planning to play out of AB then that's a different story. Still waiting for the announcement. [/QUOTE
As a result of the heckling they received from some of the low - life who attended the Ontario provincials in Elmira, I believe Homan made a decision to play out of AB as soon as it became feasible.
And I think that time is now!

I think you should be careful about calling people low lifes. I can certainly appreciate how someone who is playing by the rules would be very frustrated by a team that that circumvented the rules like Homan did. She made a mockery of the "university" situation, when she and her husband were living full time in Alberta. The only thing worse was the spineless Curling Association that changed the rule to suit her. We seen the fallout from that with the senior team from Ontario representing PEI in the brier

Homan & Co. received prior written confirmation from Curling Canada that the team was fully qualified to play in the Ontario provincials.
The'low-life' I referred to were not competitors; they were individuals who 'attended' the event.

Curling has always been a sport where sportsmanship, honesty and integrity have been the backbone of the game.
I have never in 50 years of curling seen players or fans boo a team prior to this.
I have seen fans cheer a miss, and then have other fans quickly chastise the offender.
Wonder what would have possessed "fans" to boo a team?

I remember that idiot yelling 'Albertaaaaaaaaa' when they won the provincials. Stupid. Whatever your feelings of the birthright rule, etc, when you're at a game, zip it (and maybe watch how many drinks you've had).

So far those are the only ones I've heard, too.

This team update is a few weeks old. The Thompson brothers, Stuart and Kendall are teaming up. Stuart along with Colten Steele from his team along with Kendall and Michael Brophy will be the new team.

I realize that this is a little off topic, however can any of the astute Ontario posters explain to me what has happened to Men's Curling in Ontario
It used to be one of the hardest provinces to get to the brier from, now there are only about 3 teams that seem to compete.
By sheer numbers alone, I would think there would be a wealth of curlers to choose from and there would be the opportunity to make a number of very good teams.
Or am I wrong, has curling membership dropped off dramatically?

" Many, many people were quite upset at Epping dumping Savill". On The Nose
Yes, they were. But many, many more were also pleased and excited to see Fry join the team because it was obvious to most that the current team was going no where fast.
In addition, many were very disappointed with Epping himself who saw fit to delegate the whole dismissal process to a team member. As I pointed out at the time, it really doesn't matter if your in the corporate world or the world of sports, downsizing should never/ever be handled solely by an "old friend" or a drinking buddy".

Any time a player is fired or let go it's hard. For all involved. In the end it comes down to the skip in most cases. Sometimes, it's the skip that's let go. Each team knows what's best. If it's the skip that gives the bad news or great friend that gives the bad news........it's still bad news.

Good answers folks.
Having said that, I would agree to a point. It is my belief that there at least 30 teams in Man, Sask, and AB that could COMPETE, (not necessarily win) the brier if they got there.
I know that this is the hotbed of curling in Canada, I know there are probably less than ten that could actually win.
Why with the population of Ontario are there so few that could actually compete

I kind of misspoke I meant to say that I THINK, not KNOW
Just as an example, The Sturmay team from Alberta.
Young, knocking on the door, but cant get by KOE or Bottcher. If they did I think they would do well. Kind of like Bottcher a couple of years ago
Sorry if I came across as being something I am not

I could see where you’re coming from on the first two-thirds of your post (not quoted, for brevity) and maybe partly agree with it, but you’re out of line with this part I did quote.
Where in this forum’s terms of service does it say everyone here must be objective and check their fandoms at the door? That’s a code of conduct for a journalist in the press, but this is a fan forum, for crying out loud! Meaghan, and anyone else, should be and is free to wave whatever fan flag they want to, if that’s even what she was doing which I’m not completely convinced of anyway.
You can 'cry out loud' as much as you like... my post was not out of line.
When a poster (repeatedly) accuses other posters (weather by naming names or not) of sexism, and when that accusation is clearly fueled by the poster's 'fandom' for the player she is so aggressively defending - and accusing others of sexism IS defending aggressively -, I have every right to ask for the nonsense to stop if the poster wishes for her posts to be taken seriously.
There is also a little element called fairness. And I believe it is blatantly unfair for a poster to be so caught up in his/her 'fandom' for a particular player that he/she loses objectivity and accuses other posters of something as distasteful as sexism.
I never stated that she doesn't have a right to post what she posted - I stated my objection to what she posted, and asked that she be more objective if she wishes to be taken seriously.
If she wishes not to be taken seriously, that's her prerogative, I suppose... sigh...

Would really like to see Colton come back to Sask and give the province a chance to form another strong team.
