Must be nice to have such high hopes, living with your head in the clouds! Dahl isn't going to win this, not strong enough! If they do something would be terribly wrong in Kenora ,not to mention they would be lucky to finish beyond 1-10 in Red Deer.
Where are you curling in you're provincials... Yes thats what I thought.. NO WHERE!!
Dahl has been to 4 Ontario Hearts and improved each and every time. She also has a team who can win, they are showing it this week already. Like it was said... Lost to Homan on LAST ROCK and lost to McCarville on LAST ROCK, while still losses, looks like they can play with the best of them! Oh and to boot, Dahl beat Middaugh convincingly!
GO DALHIES!

Same with Smith-Dacey's team, granted Smith-Dacey was also playing with Colleen Jones at the beginning of last season, and they were playing in the tour. Big hats off went to Danielle Parsons for falling into her role as Vice and fitting in so with Smith-Dacey's team.
They are the expections? WHAT!? What about Jenna Hanna or Amber Holland, Maybe Kelly Scott in her first scotties or what about Andrea Kelly or Suzanne Brit, She made the playoffs at the Scotties many times. Maybe Cathy Cunningham or Rachel Homan, Rachel finished 4th in her FIRST Scotties.
ANY TEAM who wins any prov can win at the National Level.
Oh one final one for ya... VAL SWEETING BEATING SHANNON KLIEBRINK in the Alberta final a few years back... She had NO Experience and has gotten better every year since!
GO TEAM DAHL Go!! They have as good a chance as any... They at least made it to their respecitve Provincials!

Let's be clear on this one.. all Dahl had to do was make sure she was at least 4th out of 7 in the N.Ont Provincials to get a bye to the Ontario Scotties, while 52 other teams had to go through Zones, Regionals, and Challenge Round to get there... Let's put team Dahl into Southern Ontario and see how she does!

Well they'd probably experience more user fees, more traffic congestion, and higher municipal taxes in the south. I'd stay in the pristine northwest.

this is unexpected from jen hanna
started out so well at 2-0 but has now lost 3 straight and is down without hammer playing the 10th end to winless alison nimik
sherry is clinging to a 6-5 lead over rachel. Lets see if she can hold on and end rachel's unbeaten run

It's nice for any team to have support in any playdown. And from the looks of it, Team Dahl has shown improvement over the years.
However, last rock losses are still losses. A team that is "close to beating the top teams" is still a team that loses more often than not to the top teams. That's not a team we want representing Ontario on the National stage.
Good luck to Team Dahl, and hopefully with practice and more experience on the tour, they will develop into another strong contender in Ontario. But they aren't there yet.

So Homan clinches 1st place with her win over Auld
Perfect week so far at 7-0!
Two draws left and there are still 7 that are alive mathematically

rachel is riding high right now but sherry, who sits at 2 losses will know that she really probably can only afford one more loss with the way rachel, krista and cathy are going.
I'm not sure Rachel's only or biggest concern is Sherry. Cathy Auld gave her a great game last night, scoring in four straight ends late before finally succumbing 7-5. And Cathy beat Rachel in the Regionals in Gananoque in 6 ends so I think there is competition on a number of fronts. Horgan plays tough in the North, McCarville obviously, Auld and Middaugh all will give Rachel all she can handle in the next couple of days.
Interesting that there are seven credible playoff teams starting this last day,
The playoffs basically start today for the six challengers to Rachel.

Yup. Her team has been playing real well ... again. Don't know how the CZ oddsmakers missed her because she's done well in past Ontario Scotties. Big day for her today with the M&M girls on tap. Good luck to her!

I am rather annoyed by the lack of media coverage in the Centre of the Universe (aka Toronto). Nothing in the Toronto Star, Globe & Mail. Of course CBC Radio's morning show blathered on about alpine skiing but nothing about Provincial curling. Either a lack of respect for women's curling or curling in General.

By my calculation the only teams that are technically out of the playoffs now are Hanna, Nimik and Pickering.
It could get as messy as this:
1. Homan has locked up first place in the RR.
As many as six teams could tie with four loses if the following happens:
2. Auld loses to Middaugh and McCarville. Finishes 5-4
2. Horgan loses to Brown and Nimik. Finishes 5-4
2. McCarville beats Auld and loses to Pickering. Finishes 5-4
2. Middaugh beats Auld and loses to Brown. Finishes 5-4
2. Dahl beats Nimik and Hanna. Finishes 5-4
2. Brown beats Middaugh and Horgan. Finishes 5-4
8th/9th. Hanna and Nimik.
10th. Pickering is out.
The odds of that all happening is probably astronomically low and that doesn't factor in talent and head to head. The most unlikely would seem to be Pickering beating McCarville. However that happened in the Northern Ontario regional playdown so who knows! It just gives you an idea how messy this could get after tonight. If three tiebreakers are needed the first one is scheduled for midnight and the winner goes back on the ice for 9am. Ouch!

if i had to guess i would say that sherry will win both of her games today to finish on 3 losses and cathy will probably beat krista(unfortunately)
that would give a final 3 of homan, auld and middaugh

Are the Kenora/NOCA team putting out the info to the media?

Good point - there is coverage in the local media but the OCA could also ensure that media coverage is trickling down to the South!

The Toronto Sun has been covering it, they had a full article and interview with Sherry a couple days ago as well.

Does Rogers TV have an online feed for those of us who don't have Rogers Cable in our communities (and are too cheap to go to Kenora for the week)?

A tiebreaker is looming in Ontario! Tracy Horgan has officially locked up 2nd place... Homan and Horgan will battle it out again!
