Who invented that curling term 'catcher'?

I had to mention it because our pal Vic Rauter seems to be the only one between the others Linda and Russ who I have not heard speak that term? when describing a shot. maybe it was Herr Vic 's own way of keeping one up on the rest of them in the broadcast booth

Funny you ask actually....

It was Marc O'Connor while playing second in a mixed bonspiel in Kamloops, BC. Correct me if I am wrong, but was it not late in October 1964?

Sorry you feel that way. Why the term is used is obvious. But lets be honest, where and who started it is pretty much impossible to figure out. You open up another can of worms when you start to question the intelligence of the posters, some of us are only havin' a bit of fun.
