There is a very handy feature on Mac that allows you to safely and securely store all passwords and logins from different sites, apps, etc. But for some reason now I can't use it.

Didn't you update macOS before this? I've read that the reason for this failure could be due to system updates among other things.

I must say that MacOS is a great and safe system, which usually works without failures. But that doesn't mean that there are no glitches at all. I had problems with Keychain too, and by the way, it happened after MacOS update. Read more here https://setapp.com/how-to/fix-keychain-problems. There are different reasons why it doesn't work, so I'm sure you'll figure it out quicker.
