Just saw a tweet - COC is stepping in for Anna Sloan on Eve's team. That will make for interesting viewing.

Yeah, there are a lot of subs this year, besides that one:
Kristy McDonald is subbing for Amy Nixon (work commitments) on Chelsea Carey's team (Manitoba Legend is going to have a field day with that one).
Briar Huerlimann is subbing for Marisa Winkelhausen (injury) on Alina Paetz' team.
Matt Dunstone is subbing in with Charley Thomas' team again.
Pat Simmons is subbing for John Landsteiner (I'm guessing work) on John Shuster's team.
That's all I know of for now. Seems like a lot though.

international streaming?
Does anyone know if the Sportsnet coverage will be able to be streamed to viewers not in Canada, like on a youtube channel? And if so, which one?

players championship
To answer the question about streaming out of country, you can see Steve Laycock's team playing as they will be streaming all of their games. Just go to their website. It is very good coverage.

PLAYERS CHAMPIONSHIP BRUSHING RULES
Could this be a glimpse into future WCF/CC rules? Thoughts?
http://www.thegrandslamofcurling.co...ionship-format/
Rules copied below...
New for 2016: New brushing rules apply for this event. Each team will be using three brushing devices in the game as outlined below:
Brushing device No. 1: “Right Brush” — MUST be used by the brusher on the right side of the player delivering the stone, regardless of who is the brusher.
Brushing device No. 2: “Left Brush” — MUST be used by the brusher on the left side of the player delivering the stone, regardless of who is the brusher.
Brushing device No. 3: “Skip or Vice Skip Brush” — The skip and vice skip MUST begin the event with a “used brush head” to be approved by the head official at the pre-event practice. They must continue with the same head for the entire event.
Brushing rules:
1) Brushers cannot be on the same side or brush from the same side at any time.
2) Brushers cannot cross-over to the other side at any time.
3) Players must use the same brush heads in pre-game practice that they will use in the game.
4) The skip or vice skip can brush from inside the hog line only.
5) To allow for accurate management and to facilitate the above rules, we ask all teams to ensure that they have red brush heads available for the entire event to be used on the red rock side of the sheet. A different colour such as blue, yellow, orange, or black may be used on the yellow side of the sheet. The brush to be used in the house must be a different colour than the other brushes that are used.
Penalty for breach of the brushing rules: The consequence for breaking any of the rules regarding brushing will be the same as the consequence for touching a moving stone inside the hog line (i.e. non-offending team has the option to remove the stone in question and replace all stones that were displaced after the infraction to their original positions; or leave all stones where they came to rest; or place all stones where they reasonably consider the stones would have come to rest had the infraction not occurred.

The Ryerson Varsity Curling team has volunteered to share games from every draw on CurlingGeek. Big thanks also to Gerry & CurlingZone for helping with internet access and logistics.

Does anyone remember the dude with the rainbow Afro that used to show up on camera at all the world sporting events in the 70's? This guy must be Jones' hero because she is perfecting his style of seeking cameras.

HotRocks posted the link...
http://watch.sportsnet.ca/gsoc/home
Sportsnet streamed the Elite10 free to whet audience appetite. The Players Championship streams are available for only $15 CAD. If you like to watch curling, it's a great deal... 6 RR games, quarters/semis/finals all with professional broadcasters and live video on other sheets...
The future of curling broadcasting for the WCT in my view..
Yes, many curling viewers see all the WCF high quality commercial free coverage on the YouTube channel for the Worlds... and it is great no doubt... but that comes with a cost... The WCF can offer that because of the great cash windfall of $$$ they get from the Olympics...
Check the WCF annual review balance sheet on Page 29 and see what they spend on that...
http://www.worldcurling.org/wcf-annual-review-2014-2015
But for a private company like Sportsnet or future other enterprises that might cover curling, business considerations dictate..

Misty1 called it. Jones easily subdued Jones. Einarson made short work of Carey & spare...at least the arena was quiet😄

Draw 2 Predictions:
Sheet B: Fleury def. Homan
Some will call me crazy with this but Fleury has played really well for most of the season and I truly believe many people underestimate what they can do. Really tough call on this one in my opinion. Neither team has played much since their respective Scotties provincials so it's tough to say how they will perform. Homan looked shaky at the Elite 10 and Fleury struggled a bit at the Perth Ladies a few weeks back. I still think Fleury will win it but either way I think it will be a great game that should come down to last rock. These 2 teams should be factors this weekend.
Sheet C: Muirhead def. Paetz
Again, both teams not having the greatest of seasons and the game will be even tougher to call as both teams have had to make lineup changes this week. Given Muirhead's recent play at the Worlds (and Paetz's lack of play), I believe the victory will be Muirhead's here.
Sheet D: McEwen def. Murdoch
McEwen has had another good season whereas Murdoch still seems to be slipping. I expect McEwen to pull away with this one.

Re: Re: international streaming?
Thanks to those who've provided answers so far.
rtcurl, there was nothing in my original question asking for _free_ coverage. I was wondering about international coverage, i.e. a stream that isn't geoblocked outside of Canada. I asked because earlier this year there was an event (I'm forgetting which one now) that I would've liked to watch only to find it was only available to stream for customers of the particular Canadian TV network that had the rights to the coverage, with no options given for those outside of Canada to watch it even if we wanted to pay for it. I've been wondering if that's going to be an issue again for this event.

I believe Cathy O is the generally accepted nickname. Your use of the initials COC is borderline.

little news bits ...
quote: Muirhead won the Players’ Championship both times Toronto previously hosted the event in 2013 and 2015.
Team Muirhead is playing without third Anna Sloan, who is out for the rest of the season due to injury, and two-time Players’ winner Cathy Overton-Clapham is filling in as a spare.
Meanwhile, Ottawa’s Rachel Homan’s opened her quest to sweep the Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling majorswith a 7-3 victory over Tracy Fleury of Sudbury, Ont.
