A great idea. Totally agree.

I don't believe so because he was not returning as team Canada the Olympic year like Homan was. Gushue was Team Canada.

True, but they still had to miss due to the Olympics. I'd be shocked if they're not a WC if they fail to qualify.

Thanks.

99% chance they would have qualified for this game anyway. This is not a huge concession by Curl Canada.

I have no problem with the Homan decision although she will probably not need it. Hasn't Koe's team changed significantly? I think you need 3 of 4 basically which is why Rycroft kept playing to help Thiesen and Simmons.

Nothing to do with fairness. Just another purely financial decision by Curl Canada. Anything to make a buck.

I don't think so. Earlier this year during the Olympics and Scotties there was a plenitude of pages and posts regarding this exact topic. If I recall the vast majority were FOR giving Homan a spot seeing as she had to forgo her earned Team Canada spot to go to the Olympics. This was the only circumstance yet where a returning Team Canada also won the Olympic qualifier. I say well done Curling Canada. And yes the end result will be more tickets sold and more eyes watching on TV. Win win.

This is good news although I don't think the Homan rink will fail to qualify.

Nightmare Pt. 2 - the play-in and a likely Top 10 canadian opponent higher hated than most of her Ontario competitors. (ie. Carey or Scheidegger, Fleury or Einarson, Flaxey, Spencer, etc.

No problem with CCA pre-slotting her into the wildcard game - if she fails to grab her card thru Ontario.

Let me preface my remarks by saying I have not talked to Rachel Homan in months.

But unless some extraordinary changes have taken place since that time, I can assure you that your suggestion this team is or will have "nightmares" about reaching and participating in the 2018 Canadian Scotties is ludicrous, at best.

To the contrary, this team has never become unduly concerned about any challengers they may face in any event. As a matter of fact they look forward and actually relish the thought of taking on the best in the world. Even as a teenager ( when she defeated Jones in the Canada Games) , they could hardly wait to step onto the ice against the former Canadian Champion.

Soo, if anybody is having "nightmares" about the upcoming Canadian Championship it's not Homan & Co., it's only You !
