New Ontario Event - Sarnia Oil Heritage Classic
Fellow Curlers,
This Fall, on the weekend of October 27th the Sarnia Golf and Curling Club will be hosting a new event on tour, The Sarnia Oil Heritage Classic.
The bonspiel will feature both a Mens and Womens event. The Mens event will be a 16 team triple KO format with 8 qualifiers. The womens event will be a 8 team pools event with 2 pools of 4 and there will be 4 qualifiers advancing to a semi final game. The payout for each is as follows.
Men - $600 entry fee Women - $400 entry fee
Champs - $5400 Champs - $2000
Finalist - $3400 Finalists - $1400
Semis - $2200 Semis - $800
Qualify - $1200
For anyone who has neve played in Sarnia, it is one of the finest facilities in the province. It is a fantastic 8 sheeter and ice manager Don Bourque makes great ice. He is annually part of the team that prepares the ice at Dominion Provincials.
We feel that this will be an affordable event that offers a great payout (doubling your entry). Draws will begin Friday afternoon and the finals will conclude on Sunday afternoon. Also, we would like to remind U.S. based teams that the curling club is less than an hour from the airport in Detroit and under 3 hours for teams west of Toronto.
We will be having a lot of fun this weekend with drink specials for guys and girls arranged as well as food specials. Local bars and restaurants are very close to all hotels (which are in walking distance to the club)and we are hoping to have a hospitality room for Sat night.
Please consider adding this to your schedule. You can apply online.
