Fleury's loss...was it sweeping?

Fleury's last rock against Jones, the call was for the slow side sweeper to prevent the crash but the sweeper reached across and corner swept the fast side which actually made the rock curl more and so the crash. Even if you believe in scratch sweeping (which is wrong) then sweep across the full face of the rock and not the wrong corner. Oh well, it was only a chance for the Olympics.

Interesting. I felt she was light. JJ was trying to hit mid 8 and didn’t hit house. Think Fleury with a bit more weight would have had it

If they did it wrong then every curler in the trials is doing it wrong.

No. If you look at the Gushue/Jacobs final they called it and swept it right. No corner sweeping on the wrong side. No furrowed brows or "what happened" looks and a great game You just have to look.

They are great curlers and their tactics are excellent, but there is always a level of uncertainty that results in failure. I'm not arguing that. My point is a very specific mechanical action that adds to the risk of failure. It's like not tying your shoelaces when you go out on the ice. You increase your odds of falling.

Go to 57:40 and watch the next two shots.

Or any other shot.

Not sure what you're getting at here. The first shot is Gushue which they first sweep for distance and then Walker finishes by sweeping to curl; as called and they make their shot. The Jacobs shot is swept to curl, but not that well, the result is a bit of a roll as expected from too little curl but no harm.
