Important

In between events is a great time to post this.

For the second time in a couple of years I have said goodbye to a co-worker leaving to be treated for prostate cancer. I know that this seems to be one disease that we sweep under the rug. Not really a-list material. After all, it's just men who get it. And men are taught to be strong, and struggle and fight in silence. No tears, ever!
I guess over the last few years this has changed. More media time has been devoted to this problem. Now maybe it's time for all of us to do our part. Step one. Get tested. I know I balked last time at the doc. I thought the PSA would be enough, but no, he wanted to do that 'other thing'. Stupid and cowardly on my part. Time to man up. It's only unpleasant for a second or two. (Tried to make a joke about intestinal fortitude, but it didn't make too much sense. Sorry.) Step two, support research. Donate, freaking donate. I know I will be supporting the local Ride For Dad, and if work permits will actually ride in it. A great cause, fighting a disease that many of us will be touched by in our lifetime.
Thanks. You may have your serious curling talk site back now.

love this thread.

My father is battling this now and I know it is beginning to overtake him. He was so positive about beating it, but I notice the change in mood and strength.

Get tested everyone!
