MB BC mens semi

The Manitoba lead in the MB tuck using the corn broom was using the broom to steer the rock on release. The replay showed the broom hitting/gliding against the rock after release.

I may be mistaken but any contact with the rock is a burned rock. The announcer said, and I'm sorry I forget her name,( EDIT Stephanie Ledrew ) if the contact is before release its ok. Is that right? The replay clearly showed contact after release and Mudryk caught himself after pointing it out not wanting to cause troubles.

Does anyone know the correct ruling on a brush touching a rock before, during or after release, before or after the hogline. I always thought any touch before the far hog line the rock is removed from play and after the far hogline let the rock finish and the non offending team decides the fate of how they thought the rocks would have been.

Rule 9.1 from Curling Canada rules for 2014-2018

“A stone in motion shall not be touched by any player, equipment or personal belongings of the team to which it belongs. Clarity: a stone re-touched after release before the hog line is not a violation.”

Thanks I don't have the rules handy but what about using the broom as a steering device before, during, and after release.....touching the rock? I think the rules read ANY touch is a burned rock. So if the broom is used before release are you saying the rules say ok even though it touched the rock.? Even after release, if it touched regardless of the hogline, it's a touch and a burned rock. After the hogline, same, touched and burned? Right?

The quote you have is retouched by the hand on delivery, not the broom influencing delivery.

Surely there are officials that read this that have the right answer. Mine would be burned rock and remove from play and reset all stones to original spot

I’m an official in the USA. I would read that rule as any touch by player, equipment (broom) or belongings. You see it as steering but I just see it as touching of the rock before the hogline by the broom.
