I don't think I'd call it a changing of the guard with Rachel Homan already at the STOH. And we're only 4 games in folks - none of the favourites are out of it yet.

none of auld, horgan or middaugh look like themselves in this event..
title might be there for one of those 3 to grab

I wonder why there is no on-line scoring this morning?
Use the website www.playdowns.com for online scores.
Northern Ontario uses this website for all of it's scoring during playdowns, and it is an excellent site. I just checked and they are being updated (not sure if they were late today? site is usually very, very good).
Of note, the linescore shows Flaxey is up 9-0 on Middaugh after 5 ends. Can someone watching the live streaming confirm if this is true?? That's a crazy score.

Yes, that's the correct score. Flaxey 9, Middaugh 0.
Not a great performance by Team Middaugh.
Auld vs Middaugh this afternoon. Both will be at 2-3, if Auld holds on against Reddick (currently 7-2, playing 7).
The loser may still not be out of this thing, though, as 5-4 looks like it might get a bunch of tie-breakers...

If Horgan can keep winning, she should have a spot. Unfortunately for her, she plays Flaxey, Auld and Middaugh to finish round-robin tomorrow, although Auld and Middaugh don't always appear to be at the top of their games. She (should) win her game against Nicol this morning as she's up 6-4 after 7 with hammer. She plays Lilly this afternoon. She should go at least 6-3 I'm thinking. 7-2 if she can bring Flaxey back. She's got a good shot!

Team Flaxey is rolling and looking dominant. They have outscored opponents 42-15 in heir first 5 games and they still have Lilly and Premo left to play who currently sit at the bottom of the standings. The Hastings vs Flaxey game this afternoon could very well be for first place at the end of the week!

How does a team like Middaugh let someone steal 8 straight points?

Yes. LogJam at 3 losses. 9 game round robin is rather greuling - compared to the other provinces. Tough event. The teams at two losses have a LOT to curl for with so many teams nipping at their heels. Haven't checked whoPLAYSwhom, so may be an inevitable drop to 3 losses for one of them. 4 games to go. Again. Tough event.

After having a 3-1 lead against Lilly, Horgan loses 10-4. Horgan will have to step it up with the teams she faces tomorrow she's already at 3-3..

this has been a weird event so far. yes hastings, reddick and flaxey are good teams but it just seems like none of horgan, middaugh or auld have gotten into top gear

Lilly beat Horgan at last year's Scotties too. They've got her number!

Sure would be nice to see Flaxey represent Ontario at the Scotties. Go girls. It would be great experience for them. Best of luck.

Fun Friday morning at the ON Scotties.
The first of 3 draws today (because of the Compressor problem Tuesday).
8 teams still alive after the morning draw.
And only Flaxey is safe at this point from the possibility of having to play in the midnight tiebreakers.
Fingers crossed for lots of those 5 and 4 tiebreakers...

Horgan
Horgan just doesn't seem to have that killer instinct to win major events. Her team is supposed to be a seasoned one yet they lose to Lily.
4-3 in a weak field as this = weak team.
PS Who is Flaxey & where did she come from?

Just because they're 4-3 doesn't mean they're such a weak team. Care to talk about Middaugh? She's 4-3 too. Are you gonna call her a weak team too??

Love the continuous underestimation of Team Lilly. They've got a great chance to beat Flaxey and go to 5-3 right now, but some posters still talk about them as if they're at the bottom of the standings. They were a perfectly respectable 4-5 last year as well.
It's a round robin folks, there's gonna be some losses. Tell me the last 10 team women's event you've seen where 4 losses didn't get a tie-break? It usually does, there's some real parity at these events, and with a dominant team like Homan absent, this is all the more true in Ontario this year.

From Wikipedia
She is a former Canadian Mixed champion, and World Mixed Doubles bronze medalist.
Flaxey is originally from Winnipeg, Manitoba. As a junior, she won the Manitoba Junior championships at the age of 15 in 2001 with teammates Kristin Loder, Lindsay Titheridge and Elisabeth Peters. The team finished with a 4-8 record at the Canadian Junior Curling Championships that year.[2]
She began curling competitively playing second for Shauna Streich. As a resident of Manitoba, Flaxey won the 2009 Canadian Mixed Curling Championship (held in Autumn 2008), playing third for Sean Grassie. This qualified the two for the 2009 World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship, where they won a bronze medal.
In 2008, Flaxey moved to Alberta where she played competitively as third for Leslie Rogers in 2009 and 2010 and then as third for Casey Scheidegger in 2011. She made the Alberta Scotties Tournament of Hearts in all three of those seasons. Her highest finish was 4th in 2010.
In 2011, Flaxey moved to Ontario to form her own team. As skip, she qualified for her first Ontario Scotties Tournament of Hearts in 2012 where she finished with a 2-7 record.
Flaxey and fellow curler Caleb Flaxey were married in March 2013.[1]

Kendra Lilly with the steal to win in an EE against Flaxey. HUGE playoff implications.
Flaxey, Hastings, and Reddick are in the playoffs at 2 losses. Doesn't matter what they do in their next one, they're playing for seeding.
Lilly is in with a win against Kallos, alone at 3 losses.
If she loses to Kallos, she'll be in a playoff with at least one of Horgan/Middaugh (who play each other), and also possibly Auld.
Would have been hard pressed to find anyone who would have said Horgan, Middaugh, and Auld ALL miss the playoffs, but Kendra Lilly can seal that fate tonight. All the way from the "bottom of the standings" dontcha know.

No kidding. If Lilly wins this last round game, no tiebreakers. Some of the so called heavyweights will be packing to go home. Interesting implications if she loses though.
